Public Welfare

“Care, care, and care again!” That is the Yuanta Foundation’s insistence in all of the social welfare activities it promotes, along with a deep belief in the ability of education to change people’s lives and help them achieve their dreams. For this reason, the Foundation devotes itself to helping disadvantaged groups, and especially children, receive a solid education. Yuanta is also committed to community service and participation in local society, and strives to lead by example in showing what it means to be a good neighbor.

Caring for Health
  • Yuanta held three employee blood drives in 2016, with 163 volunteers and 1,691 donors contributing 2,316 bags of blood. Over a total of six years, Yuanta blood drives have donated 7,270 bags of blood to area blood banks.
  • Yuanta was the sole sponsor of the “2016 New Taipei City Yonghe Charity Run”, donating a total of NTD 150,000 to the Rong-Guang Social Welfare Institution.
Caring for Society
  • In 2016, 58 employee volunteers organized environmental cleanups and blood pressure tests in the Fucheng Village neighborhood where Yuanta’s headquarters is located.
  • In 2016, Yuanta organized its Employee Family Day activities in central and southern Taiwan around the theme of reducing plastic usage. 72 volunteers and 1,513 employees and their families visited an organic farmer’s market and vendors offering a range of conservation-oriented products.
Caring for Rural Areas
  • Yuanta has been a long-term sponsor of the National Taiwan Science Education Center’s “Edison Launch” program, which works to get students from disadvantaged areas involved in science education. In 2016, Yuanta sponsored the participation of 300 children, and has sponsored more than 20,000 children in total.
Caring for Children
  • The “Yuanta Happy Day” program is now in its fifth year. Initially a once-per-year program, as of 2016 it has expanded to three activities annually, with one each in northern, central, and southern Taiwan. In 2016, Yuanta invited 35 social welfare groups and schools, 263 Company volunteers, and 934 students to join in the activities. Over the five years of the program’s existence, more than 2,200 students have participated.
  • Yuanta sponsored the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families’ 2016 “Celebration of Outstanding Children”. Out of over 50,000 entries, the TFCF selected a total of 23 students who, in spite of disadvantaged backgrounds, have nevertheless made outstanding achievements and had a positive impact on their communities.
  • Yuanta has also sponsored the TFCF’s winter aid drives. In 2016, the Foundation sponsored seven such drives, benefitting a total of 1,140 disadvantaged families.
Caring for Hualien and Taitung
  • Yuanta has sponsored the “Taiwan Aboriginal Baseball Development Association Cup” for six years. In 2016, 900 participants on 48 teams competed in Taitung. Altogether, Yuanta's sponsorship has benefitted more than 5,000 young ballplayers.
  • For over a decade, Yuanta has sponsored holiday celebrations at Hualien’s Mennonite Christian Hospital, which cares for senior citizens in eastern Taiwan. In 2016, 28 Yuanta volunteers took part, benefitting 1,150 people. Cumulatively, these activities have benefitted more than 7,000 people.
  • Yuanta has sponsored the “Kids Bookhouse” in Taitung for six years, hiring local youths to act as tutors for 300 children from disadvantaged families. Over six years, the program has helped more than 900 children.
  • Yuanta has worked with the Mandarin Daily News for three years providing newspaper subscriptions to 18 schools in the Hualien/Taitung region. In 2016, 458 students participated; cumulatively, this program has benefitted more than 20,000 students.
Cooperation with NPO/NGOs
  • The theme for the Yuanta Foundation's 2016 Conference was “No Boundary – Charity Connections for a Better Taiwan”. With 33 educational foundations and over 400 attendees, the conference focused on breaking down boundaries and expanding the scale of one’s social impact.
  • In 2016, Yuanta and the Hondao Foundation teamed up for the thirteenth consecutive year to hold a winter aid drive for over 5,200 senior citizens.
  • Yuanta sponsors Sistema Taiwan’s “Seeds of Love Musical Education Program”. This program enlists musicians to serve as teachers at schools in underserved areas. In 2016, the program was active in 23 elementary schools and four junior high schools, benefitting 120 students in total.
  • Since June, 2011, the Foundation has held “Yuanta Public Interest Lectures” every month, increasing awareness around disadvantaged groups in society. Cumulatively, a total of 62 speakers and 7,000 members of the public have taken part.
