Mr. Ching Chang Yen's tenure as chairman of Yuanta Financial Holdings has been marked by the implementation of corporate governance best practices. A well-established corporate governance framework ensures that the company's vision and operational goals are focused on creating the greatest value for shareholders, a promise that is made to all Yuanta shareholders. Implementing best practices has been taking place at Yuanta for many years, and in 2007 Yuanta elected independent directors not only to the parent company, Yuanta Financial Holdings, but also to its securities and bank subsidiaries. Audit committees were simultaneously established at each of the entities, further strengthening the quality of each board's structure and decision-making process.
In 2007, Asiamoney magazine awarded Yuanta as Taiwan's "Best Overall for Corporate Governance", "Best for Investor Relations", and "Best for Responsibilities of Management and the Board of Directors". In 2008, Yuanta passed the corporate governance assessment held by the Corporate Governance Association in Taiwan, with flying colors. This reflects the effort that Yuanta has made in raising the quality of its governance, recognized by institutions both at home and abroad.
The primary goal of implementing corporate governance best practices is to promote strong business operations and maximize shareholder value, and subsequently raise a company's overall competitiveness.
