Yuanta's management team has a long history of concern and support for society's well-being. Fuhwa Cultural and Educational Foundation was established on November 5, 2002 with financial support from the company's three main subsidiaries (securities, bank, and securities finance). In June 2007, its name was changed to Yuanta Cultural & Educational Foundation (Yuanta Foundation). The Foundation's vision is to repay society for its support over the years and to carry out the company's social responsibility by raising awareness about health, culture and the arts.
Yuanta Foundation directs its resources toward future leadership development, academic workshops, promotion of the arts and cultural activities, and a variety of other social activities.
Yuanta Foundation's founding principles are to:

In order to develop financial industry talent, Yuanta Foundation provides summer scholarships for graduate students working on research that integrates financial theory and practice. Additionally, it hosts inter-school EMBA (Harvard Business Review) case study competitions along with National Taiwan University and National Cheng Chi University. Universities from outside Taiwan participate in this activity. The Foundation also arranges its "Financial Markets and Management Campus Lectures" to strengthen university students' understanding of the domestic financial markets and to teach investment management concepts. |

Yuanta Foundation arranges academic workshops, such as the "Corporate Governance and Taiwan's Financial Reform Forum" and "Global Competitiveness and Taiwan's Financial Reform," which serve to provide an opportunity to interface with regulatory authorities. The Foundation also sponsors finance-related conferences, for example the "Financial Management" conference, the "2008 National Taiwan University International Economic and Financial Accounting Conference," and "The 16th Conference on the Theories and Practices of Securities and Financial Markets." |

Culture and the Arts |

Yuanta Foundation sponsors musical performances by outstanding musicians, for example, concerts featuring pianist Chun Chieh Yen and cellist Cheng Jie Chang. The Foundation has also sought to spread greater awareness of traditional Chinese music, and provided assistance for a Chinese instrument marching band to compete in Italy, where it won first place. The Foundation teamed up with the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation in co-sponsoring a charity concert featuring violinist Cho Liang Lin. The Foundation also provided financial assistance to Tainan National University of the Arts to participate in the "2008 Venice Architecture Biennale," the first time for a Taiwanese entry. In addition to providing financial assistance to social organizations, the foundation takes part in fine arts activities to raise the caliber of the arts in Taiwan. In recognition of its contribution to the arts, Yuanta Foundation was the 2008 recipient of an Executive Yuan's award. |

Yuanta FHC is concerned about the personal health of citizens and emphasizes disease prevention. The Foundation sponsors the Liver Disease Prevention & Treatment Research Foundation in its screening activities as well as enlisting the help of volunteers from among Yuanta Securities and Yuanta Bank staff. Also, the Foundation has helped promote the Cancer Foundation's "Five-a-Day Fruits and Vegetables" initiative, aimed at teaching youngsters about cancer prevention.
Other charitable programs included helping to raise US$1 million for the 2008 earthquake relief effort in SiChuan, China, and sponsoring the 2008 Mammoth Exhibition in Taipei, to which students from rural Taiwan were invited to the exhibit to inspire their interest in the natural sciences. |
