Another long-term area of importance to the Yuanta is the cultivation of talented finance professionals. Through industry-academia partnership projects like the Graduate Student Summer Research Program, we hope to help more students understand the practical side of finance. Students who show particular ability will also have the chance to join us upon graduation and contribute what they have learned to practical use.

Yuanta plans and holds lectures on financial research and wealth management, assisting the investing public in accumulating wealth management skills and financial literacy, as well as arranging internships and corporate visits for colleges and universities. The Yuanta Cultural and Educational Foundation has also launched the National Taiwan University-Renmin University Chinese Business Case Research Cooperation Framework Program, establishing a cross-strait platform for corporate case studies and exchange. At the same time, the Foundation has also continued to hold the Yuanta Cup EMBA Competition to help improve corporate brand recognition among local universities and students, and connect the talent cultivation efforts with its Management Associate (MA) program, preparing the students for future job opportunities with Yuanta.

Events
(1) Graduate Student Summer Research Scholarship Program

Since 2007, during the school summer vacation, around 20 graduate students from colleges around Taiwan with backgrounds in finance are selected and given a chance to work in our subsidiaries, not only to prepare their theses but also get practical training in the industry. The program has been organized for 12 years.

To date, the program have cultivated 190 graduate students in finance-related fields graduate students, giving them the practical experience to complement their academic knowledge to compose a more comprehensive thesis work. Out of these outstanding students 7% have gone on to join Yuanta, becoming one of Yuanta’s Management Associates (MA).

(2) Yuanta Cup EMBA Case Analysis Competition

Established in 2007, the Yuanta Cup competition is now in its 12th year. The event combines case study and competition to create an innovative academic experience. In the 2018 Yuanta Cup, EMBA students from 8 national universities across Taiwan competed in the event, and the winning teams all donated their prize money in full to designated charities. The total prize money of NTD 320,000 from the competition was donated to 9 charity groups, creating a model of cooperation between Yuanta, competition participants, and charity groups which benefits all three parties.

Events
(1) NTU-Renmin University Chinese Business Case Research Cooperation Framework Program

To promote the development of a platform for cross-strait business management case studies, for seven consecutive years, Yuanta has been the sole sponsor of the “Chinese Business Case Research Cooperation Framework Program”, which is co-organized by National Taiwan University’s College of Management and Renmin University of China’s Business School. To date, the program has produced 87 case studies on large-scale business operations in Mainland China and Taiwan and provided the chance for over 700 entrepreneurs and managers to learn and get inspiration from one another.

(2) Cooperation with National Chengchi University on Fintech

Yuanta sponsored a three-year research program by National Chengchi University FinTech Research Center, as well as sponsored the “2018 Hit Fintech”, the second Taiwan digital Fintech summit conference. By promoting greater exchanges with financial experts across the globe on the topic of Fintech in Asia-Pacific region and Taiwan, we hope that the integration of experiences and resources from around the world will help to advance the development of financial technology in Taiwan.

(3) Sponsorship of International Conference

We have been sponsoring the International Conference of Taiwan Finance Association, and the theme for the 2018 conference was “new trends in finance”. In responding to the passage of the “Financial Technology Development and Innovative Experimentation Act”, participants engaged in the discussion on the issues related to Fintech innovation in Taiwan and behavioral finance. Over 150 leading scholars and experts in the field of finance from both Taiwan and abroad were invited to participate in the event, bringing together the wisdom from academia and the industry for an in-depth examination at the important issues in finance.

Events
(1) Corporate Governance Summit

In 2018, Yuanta also sponsored the 14th Corporate Governance Summit. The 2018 event invited scholars and experts from Taiwan and abroad to share their experiences, which could provide as valuable reference for Taiwan in the field of corporate governance. The summit was focused on the theme of “implementing independent director system and strengthening corporate governance value”. Yuanta Independent Directors Yin Hua Yeh and Ming Ling Hsueh also attended the event to express the importance of corporate governance.

(2) Cultivate Financial Talent and Promote Industry-Academia Exchange

We continue to promote our core value for Industry-Academia cooperation, which is to perform our corporate social responsibility of educating the youth by giving the students a chance to understand the development and business model of financial industry, as well as the job responsibilities and work rules of working in the sector through the experience of internship, aiming to effectively nurture talents in financial industry.

As part of the group' s effort to provide young students with an in-depth understanding of the various job-related aspects of working in the financial industry, internship opportunities, and future prospect for the industry, Yuanta organized 50 campus job fairs and explanatory meetings, in which 5,395 people participated in the activities. Yuanta also teamed up with various colleges and universities, including National Chengchi University and National Chiao Tung University in offering lectures and seminars, which attracted 3,208 students enrolling in these course programs
