Yuanta Recognized by Bloomberg GEI for 3rd Consecutive Year by Empowering Women & Implementing Gender-Friendly Workplace

Implementing gender equality in the workplace is a symbol of social progress. In 2021, Taiwan’s gender image performance has been ranked the sixth in the world and even the top in Asia. Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) is at the forefront of this wave and has been realizing gender-friendly workplaces for a long time, and this year it has been recognized internationally again by being selected for the 2022 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI). Yuanta FHC has been included in the Bloomberg GEI for the third consecutive year, and the performance of each component has improved significantly compared to the previous two years, with the Anti-Sexual Harassment Policies component receiving a perfect score for the third year in a row.

The Bloomberg GEI annually selects benchmark companies from around the world that are highly committed to gender equality, and measures the extent to which companies around the world value gender equality on five scales, including the Female Leadership & Talent Pipeline, Equal Pay & Gender Pay Parity, Inclusive Culture, Anti-Sexual Harassment Policies, and Pro-Women Brand. This year, a total of 418 companies were chosen, covering 45 countries and 11 industries, and 7 companies from Taiwan were honored.

Yuanta FHC actively carries out the gender equity policy, incorporates gender diversity into the consideration of candidates for management positions, sets targets for the percentage of women at each management level, establishes clear objectives and short-, medium- and long-term plans, and directly integrates the goals of gender diversity and inclusiveness into the performance evaluation of senior executives. In the face of the global pandemic, Yuanta understands the pressure of epidemic prevention on frontline employees and provides additional incentives in the form of epidemic prevention allowances as well as remote offices and flexible working hours in response to epidemic prevention needs. In addition to quarantine leave, Yuanta FHC also offered paid vaccination leave in 2021 to take care of employees and their families with practical actions. As a result, Yuanta FHC’s scores in the Female Leadership & Talent Pipeline and Inclusive Culture components have grown significantly, and the total scores are higher than the average of Taiwan’s financial industry.

Implementing a gender-friendly workplace is part of Yuanta’s employee care policy. Facing the post-pandemic era, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) has been introduced to provide free counseling services to maintain work-life balance for employees by bringing in outside professional psychological counseling organizations. Each and every employee is the core and driving force of the company’s sustainable development. It is the important responsibility of Yuanta FHC as an international benchmark enterprise to enable employees to enjoy their work and benefit from an equal workplace environment.
