With the vision of being an international benchmark enterprise for sustainability, Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) is committed to establishing a green corporate culture and continuously promoting various measures to reduce environmental impact. Yuanta FHC and its subsidiaries have passed the ISO14001 environmental management systems certification this year and have been awarded the certification verification by the British Standards Institution (BSI) for six consecutive years, making steady progress towards the goal of environmental sustainability.

Corporate environmental affairs need to accumulate results through long-term cultivation, one step at a time. Yuanta has continuously conducted water footprint and greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory to grasp the overall performance of the Yuanta Group in water conservation and GHG reduction. In order to integrate and manage the inventory work more systematically, Yuanta FHC has led the Taiwan financial industry in setting up an internal environmental sustainability performance database to track the waste, water consumption, and GHG emissions of each branch and business location. Long-term records and tracking with complete big data analysis not only provide a clear picture of the performance of environmental sustainability in each branch and business location, but also refine Yuanta’s persistent commitment to environmental management.

The environmental sustainability performance database is part of Yuanta’s proactive management, and the building of a corporate green culture will enable each and every employee to implement sustainable practices. Yuanta FHC vigorously promotes waste reduction and adopts the 3R management measures of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle for general household waste, and is the only financial holding company in Taiwan that has carried out a 100% coverage rate of waste weighing in the financial industry. Yuanta FHC has also put forward a paperless project piloted by executive meetings by purchasing electronic mobile devices to replace a large number of paper-based meeting materials, leading to a fifty percent (50%) reduction in the use of paper. Yuanta expects to lead every employee from top to bottom to achieve the goal of waste reduction with simplest actions.

In the spirit of environmental sustainability, companies and employees work together, and customers are invited to join the ranks of carbon reduction. Yuanta Bank, a subsidiary of Yuanta FHC, has passed the ISO14067 carbon footprint verification for all credit cards, and the carbon footprint of each credit card is about 850g. Carbon reduction of credit card products have reached more than three percent (3%) in five years. Yuanta Bank also promotes digital financial services, enhances e-Statements and online application services, and works with customers to advance the goal of a low-carbon economy.

Yuanta FHC started to introduce ISO 14001 environmental management systems in November 2015 and passed the first certification in 2016. In accordance with the spirit of ISO management systems, Yuanta has developed a management structure that meets international standards by successfully passing the triennial certification renewal. Yuanta FHC will continue to correspond to the international trend of environmental sustainability, and through active management within the company, further call on suppliers and customers to join the ranks of environmental sustainability through corporate influence, and work together to achieve a low-carbon future.
