In view of the unequal distribution of medical resources and a growing elderly population in today’s society, Yuanta has also taken a particular concern in the areas of medical and health care. Yuanta organizes blood drives several times each year regularly on a group-wide basis, sponsors medical research, provides support for people with dementia, and offers companionship for the patients at Mennonite Christian Hospital in Hualien. Yuanta Life also holds quarterly activities which are designated for senior citizens, interacting with the elderly through games and taking actions through companionship to show that we care.
The Yuanta Cultural and Educational Foundation has worked with the Mennonite Christian Hospital in Hualien for 12 years in caring for the elderly in Taiwan’s eastern region through sponsoring Mid-Autumn Festival gifts and Chinese New Year celebration activities. With these activities, we bring a little festive cheer to long-term patients who are unable to go home for the holidays. At each activity, dozens of Yuanta staff members worked as volunteers celebrate the holidays with patients and their families. As of 2018, a cumulative total of 1,873 people have benefited from this program.
Yuanta Life has planned a series of charitable activities focused on caring for the elderly and helping them create rich and enjoyable lifestyles. Both internal and contract staff from Yuanta Life formed volunteer teams and traveled to the Bitan Elderly Day Care Center of Xindian in New Taipei City, Taichung’s Ganlin Social Welfare Foundation, and Kaohsiung’s Sun Garden Long-term Care Center as well as designed a variety of fun activities and games to interact the elderly, bringing some love and warmth to the lives of those at the center.
Yuanta sponsored the Performance Workshop’s “The Eternal Coffee Time” stage show. Through its storyline, the issues surrounding grandparents raising grandchildren and dementia care gained greater public attention.
For the show, we invited 80 senior citizens and partners from the Taiwan Alzheimer’s Disease Association and Hondao Senior Citizen’s Welfare Association to see the performance, taking the audience back to rediscover the power of love and family.
