Yuanta Financial Holdings has been active in its effort towards corporate sustainability and social responsibility, launching various green procurement initiatives with an accumulated total of NT$66.82 million in green procurement in 2018. In the 2019 Award Ceremony for Excellence in Green Procurement in Private Sector held by the Department of Environmental Protection of Taipei City Government today (Nov. 18), Commissioner Ming-Lone Liou presented Yuanta with the award of excellence, acknowledging Yuanta FHC for its performance in green procurement and green consumption. Yuanta FHC has been honored with this recognition for nine consecutive years.
This year Yuanta Financial Holdings was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), DJSI World and DJSI Emerging Market. In addition to being the only Taiwan company included in Diversified Financial Services and Capital Markets industry, Yuanta was also ranked top ten, recognizing Yuanta as a global corporate sustainability leader. Yuanta FHC continues to make progress in numerous sustainability related areas, including the implementation of green practices such as initiatives to go paperless, energy conservation plan, the introduction of ISO international standards of environmental management system, energy management system and greenhouse gas inventory assessment, participation in the carbon disclosure project (CDP), and “Short-to-Midterm Action Plan of Carbon Management”, in response to the developments of a low-carbon economy following the Paris agreement.
In an ongoing effort towards fostering a green organizational culture and building a green workplace, aside from making efforts to reduce environmental footprint from operations, on the purchasing side, Yuanta encourages and practices green consumption to increase the market shares of green products. Additionally, Yuanta communicates with suppliers to use environmentally-friendly materials which are certified as green, promotes environmental sustainability and green consumption, and encourages partners to comply with these concepts with the intention of expanding the green consumption market. The focus on green procurement and green consumption will not only continue within the company, but further on to joining forces with customers, making advances towards the sustainability goal where there is joint prosperity across corporation, environment and society.
