In response to Taiwan’s national green procurement policy, Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) has taken practical action to love the earth and extend the sustainability influence to the supply chain, and as of the end of November this year (2022), the cumulative amount of green procurement exceeded NT$210 million, a twofold increase over last year. Yuanta FHC has been commended by the Taiwan government for 11 consecutive years for the green procurement and supplier management to drive a green production chain and reduce procurement risks. On December 26, Deputy Minister, Chih-Hsiu Shen, of the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) of the Executive Yuan presented the award in person, recognizing Yuanta FHC’s performance in taking the initiative to practice green consumption.

As a green pioneer in environmental change, we not only reduce the negative impact of our own operations on the environment, but also prioritize the purchase of products with labels of environmental protection, energy saving, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) sustainable forestry, and carbon reduction. We help increase the market share of green products and work with suppliers to implement sustainable practices, including the continuous execution of ISO 20400 sustainable procurement guidelines and the establishment of a systematic sustainable procurement process.

As many as 98% of Yuanta FHC’s suppliers are local companies in Taiwan, mainly in the fields of information technology, construction & repair, and printing, of which information is the most important. In addition to the implementation of green procurement, Yuanta FHC has included education and training on a variety of topics in supplier conferences from 2019 onward to strengthen suppliers’ understanding of international sustainability trends such as green procurement and net-zero carbon emissions, to deepen the concept of sustainability, and to encourage suppliers to make good use of corporate social sustainability.

Yuanta FHC actively builds a green corporate culture and a green-friendly workplace, and promotes the knowledge and practice of sustainable procurement to all employees through long-term education and training to heighten the concept of green procurement. This year, Yuanta FHC held four procurement quarterly meetings and six procurement learning sessions to put into practice the spirit of sustainable procurement.

From our own operations to our suppliers and employees, we have continued to exert sustainable influence and build a sustainable financial ecosystem. Yuanta FHC has been recognized by domestic and international professional institutions and has been listed as a constituent stock of both the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index for four consecutive years, and has been ranked number one (No. 1) in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment for the group of diversified financial services and capital markets.

In order to encourage private enterprises and organizations to implement green procurement and promote the concept of green consumption, the EPA of the Executive Yuan holds an annual recognition ceremony for private enterprises whose green procurement amount reaches NT$50 million or more. This year, a total of 121 companies were honored.
