07102020Yuanta “Dream Big” Project Walks on the Cloud to Break Social Distance; Integrates Virtual & Real to Present Educational ExhibitionSummer is approaching. The “Dream Big” Yuanta Public Service Dream-fulfilling Project initiated by Yuanta Financial Holdings (FHC) and the Yuanta Foundation, joined forces with two schools and four social welfare organizations to exhibit their achievements in the Huashan 1914 Creative Park today (July 9), inviting the public to view the exhibition for free. Utilizing the public service education which encompasses tutoring children, accompanying troubled youth, arts & crafts education, caring for the elderly, learning indigenous cultures, and popular science education, that has been promoted in Taipei, Yilan, Miaoli, Changhua, Yunlin, and Pingtung in Taiwan over the past eight months, Yuanta FHC and the Yuanta Foundation have created an educational exhibition that uses creativity to break through adversity and healthy energy to prevent epidemics, while applying the education to daily life. Everyone now welcomes summer vacation with full energy! The “Dream Big” educational exhibition, from the beginning of admission, used creative epidemic-prevention robots made by the Wamiao Science Service Group from Xinghua Elementary School in Erlin Township of Changhua County, to spray alcohol on people entering the exhibition. The IPOWER Alliance in the exhibition booths brought the epidemic-prevention soaps and mask covers hand-made by the children living in the North Coast of Taiwan, who innovatively applied what was learned in “Dream Big” courses. People who were lucky enough to win the DIY epidemic-prevention experience craft works exclaimed, “What a surprise!” In addition to measuring temperature at forehead, alcohol disinfection, and controlling the total number of people in the room, the exhibition has also set up a digital audio-visual area to digitize the exhibition content. It will be broadcasted through the “Yuanta Love Unlimited” Facebook page during the summer vacation, combining the physical exhibition and online community platform, so that visitors can visit the exhibition in the most secure and convenient way and pass on the stories and values of Yuanta’s “Dream Big” Project. According to social welfare organizations, after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, donations to social welfare organizations have decreased by 20% to 30%. Large fundraising and teaching events have also been limited. The chief executive officer of the Yuanta Foundation, Robert Yang, said that Yuanta FHC and the Yuanta Foundation originated the “Dream Big” Project and for four consecutive years the project not only has contributed money and efforts, but also in order to break through the epidemic-prevention restrictions, the Yuanta volunteer corps has formed a more diversified public welfare support model. For example, the financial literacy courses have been brought online. Consequently, the achievements in “Dream Big” Project are creatively exhibited as the first of its kind which combines physical and online communities, allowing the public to safely enter as well as experience the exhibition at home. Despite the restrictions of the pandemic, this year’s six selected “Dream Big” units continue to fulfill their dreams. In order to break through the difficulties, each unit showed strong persistence and creativity. Through small class teaching and mini-markets, popular science education and skills training courses have been taught in a situation-fitting manner and actively promoted. The teaching results have also been shared through online social media by utilizing the learning from the “Public Service Audio-Video Workshop” organized by Yuanta. Among them, the teaching videos of the portable soap papers of two students from IPOWER Alliance, Chuan Chuan and Peng Peng, were used in the “Yuanta Happiness Day” event. “The two students have indirectly become teachers of six rural primary schools and social welfare organizations, and the response of the participating teachers and students is very enthusiastic!” CEO Robert Yang pointed out. The value of fulfilling dreams continues to circulate, and it is very meaningful to realize “Dream Big’s” dream of building a public service platform for teaching and learning that benefits both students and teachers. Teenagers are not far behind. During the pandemic, the Against the Wind Theater Company continued to accompany the teenagers who require high care with drama, and quickly launched a mobile food truck to deliver love to health care workers. The theater company also collaborated with the Yuanta volunteer corps to expand community cleaning, leading the teenagers to learn to care and give, grow up from being helped, and transform into helping people. Ah Ming, a teenager who used to live on the streets, participated in the weekly art classes and community service activities of the theater company. He said that the emergency placement and counseling of the theater company helped him to move towards an independent life, so that he could find interest and confidence in learning acting and life guidance. He has now moved from the theater company to a rented apartment and is moving forward with a bright and cheerful dream. University students from the ACE family, such as Ju-hsuan Wang and Wei-lun Tang, called on other like-minded students to go back to their hometowns to accompany the students of Jiaxing Elementary School in Dapi Township, Yunlin County. They connected with local community residents and local shop owners to hold an unprecedented grand “island language cultural market and exhibition” in Dapi Township, working with local community residents to launch the “grocery shop” exhibition and “grocery” challenge. The four-month exhibition inherits ancient memories and invites Dapi folks to hold a grand “island language and culture fair,” inviting sixteen vendors and seven high school student groups to exhibit local specialties together. Also with energetic performances, the exhibition infuses Dapi with the voices of young people, leads the children to understand and see the splendor of local culture, and builds up their confidence in their hometown culture. The Hsinchu branch of the Syin-Lu Social Welfare Foundation, on the other hand, opened new in-line skating, dance, and theater clubs through the “Dream Big” Project, hoping to develop the potential of mentally and physically challenged children through multiple stimulations. Among them, student Hsiao Kai practiced stretching exercises under the guidance of a dance teacher. Bending forward, raising the legs, bridging, and handstand are all simple actions for ordinary people, but they are a big step in building the child’s confidence. Hsiao Kai, who is learning the great leap forward, can now greet teachers on his own initiative and dance according to their instructions. He is working hard on his cheerleading dance and hopes to bring joy to others. Bringing children into the community is also a dream of the Syin-Lu Foundation. The Syin-Lu Foundation expressed, after the pandemic slowed down, the “little angels” came to Sunshine Elementary School for the first time to perform in-line skates jumping over obstacles and tidying up the triangular cones, which attracted Sunshine Elementary School students to try their hands, only to find that it is not even easy to stand still. “I really admire the little angels’ perseverance!” Thumbs up from the students of Sunshine Elementary School! By interacting with ordinary children and demented elders, the “little angels” have proved that dreams can come true with perseverance and hard work. This year’s “Dream Big” Project also focuses on the elderly. Through the “Dream Big” Project, the Hongdao Senior Citizen’s Welfare Foundation invited elementary school students from rural areas to experience the “Pengzu Experience” program, which is a tour of the high percentage of the elderly population, and to feel the blurred vision, hard of hearing, hunchback, and limited mobility of the elderly after putting on simulated aging equipment. A total of 334 people participated in the first half of the year. After the experience, the children said they could empathize more with the elderly and help them. Next, the Hongdao Foundation is expected to continue its tour to Shuangxi in New Taipei City and Chiayi. The six schools and social welfare organizations that received the “Dream Big” Project grants continue to realize their dreams amidst the pandemic. They will persist to advance optimistically during the summer! More information about the “Dream Big” Public Service Education Exhibition will be broadcasted on the “Yuanta Love Unlimited” Facebook page. (https://www.facebook.com/yuantalove/)
