Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) aims to become an international benchmark enterprise for sustainability, integrating environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) concepts into corporate culture and business strategies, and conveying a “shared good” attitude to customers, supply chains, etc. We have also taken on the responsibility of sustainable talent development in the Coalition of Movers and Shakers for Sustainable Finance of Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission, leveraging the influence of the large corporations to lead the small companies, and steadily advancing in the field of sustainability. Yuanta FHC has been awarded the “Global Views Monthly ESG Corporate Sustainability Award” again this year (2024), and has won the Exemplary Award in the category of “Comprehensive Performance - Financial Insurance Industry” for four consecutive years. We continue to take ecology, public welfare, and impact as the main axes of communication for sustainability activities, and to work together with all stakeholders in order to realize the vision of sustainable development of the industry and the society.
The “Global Views Monthly ESG Corporate Sustainability Award” was organized by Global Views Monthly in 2005 and entered its 20th edition this year. Based on the ESG framework, the award evaluates the overall social responsibility performance of corporations in terms of corporate sustainability strategy planning, stakeholder engagement, transparency of information disclosure, organizational behavior and performance, etc.
Yuanta FHC has long been concerned about the risk of climate change, starting with our own internal operation and management, promoting the internal carbon reduction strategy through systematic and scientific management, and providing multifaceted green financial products and services. As a result, Yuanta FHC has made the Climate Change A List for four consecutive years in the CDP Disclosure Insight Action, and has even been ranked at the Leadership Level for six years in a row. Yuanta FHC supported the Taiwan Carbon Solution Exchange in 2023, and is one of the first companies in Taiwan to apply for international carbon credits. The carbon credits purchased are used for carbon neutralization of financial commodities, and sustainability thinking has been implemented at the core of our operations.
Yuanta FHC is taking concrete actions to love the earth by joining the Taskforce on Nature-Related Financial Disclosure (TNFD) as a TNFD Early Adopters this year (2024) and becoming a supporter of the Partnership for Biodiversity Accounting Financials (PBAF). Every year, the entire Yuanta Group responds to the Earth Hour’s one-hour light switch-off initiative, and incorporates the concept of biodiversity by organizing a number of beach cleaning, walking, and other family-day activities from time to time.
While deepening environmental sustainability initiatives, Yuanta FHC is co-prosperous with the society by linking public welfare with core business. Employees within the Yuanta Group voluntarily participate in a variety of social care services, such as blood donation, education aid, and elderly care, in order to inject living water into the corners of the world in need of help. Furthermore, Yuanta FHC signed a letter of intent to cooperate with the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the National Police Agency of Taiwan’s Ministry of the Interior in 2023, integrating the Yuanta Group’s resources to prevent fraud, protect the public’s assets, and exert social impact.
Yuanta FHC has been actively carrying out the Yuanta Group’s strategy roadmap for sustainable development, and has been selected as a constituent of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index for five consecutive years, and has again been ranked number one (No. 1) in the world in the group of Diversified Financial Services and Capital Markets in 2023. We continue to work diligently in the field of sustainability, and have drawn a blueprint for the development of sustainable human resources in Taiwan, leading the industry and society toward the goal of sustainable development.
