Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) has actively established a green corporate culture and integrated ESG concepts into the operations, recognizing that as one of the corporate consumer groups, sustainability issues have expanded from the company itself to the supply chain. We have exerted our influence on green procurement by purchasing more than NT$150 million in the first three quarters of this year (2022), an annual increase of nearly 70%, and have taken the initiative to practice green consumption. The Assistant Commissioner of Taipei City Government’s Department of Environmental Protection, Shih-Chang Lu, presented the Outstanding Green Procurement Award to Yuanta FHC yesterday (12/15).

In order to encourage private enterprises and organizations to implement green procurement and promote the concept of green consumption, the Taipei City Government holds an annual recognition ceremony for private enterprises whose green procurement amount reaches NT$5 million or more. A total of 84 companies were honored this year (2022). Yuanta FHC gives priority to the selection of environmentally friendly, energy-saving, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-sustainable forestry, and carbon reduction products. Through green procurement and supplier management, we drive a green production chain and reduce procurement risks, and have been honored with the Outstanding Green Procurement Award of Taipei City for twelve consecutive years.

Yuanta Group’s suppliers are mainly in the categories of information technology, construction & maintenance, and printing, and 98% of them are local companies in Taiwan. With the aim of working together with suppliers towards sustainable development, Yuanta FHC and the subsidiaries continue to implement ISO 20400 sustainable procurement guidelines and establish a systematic sustainable procurement process, and continue to communicate with our supplier partners. Starting in 2019, educational training on a variety of topics have been included in supplier conferences to strengthen suppliers’ understanding of sustainability issues and trends.

In order to promote the spirit of sustainable procurement, Yuanta FHC has held three procurement quarterly meetings and six procurement training sessions this year to disseminate the knowledge and practice of sustainable procurement to all employees, thereby deepening the spirit of green procurement. We have extended our sustainability influence to our suppliers and employees to build a sustainable financial ecosystem, and have been affirmed by domestic and international professional institutions. We have been listed in both the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index for four consecutive years, and have been ranked number one (No. 1) in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment for two years in a row in the group of diversified financial services and capital markets.
