Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC), Yuanta Cultural and Educational Foundation, and Down Syndrome Foundation are long-time public welfare partners. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of volunteers has declined, and in order to make the Mid-Autumn Festival mooncake gift boxes in time, the workload of the youths with Down Syndrome in the Shelter Workshop of the Down Syndrome Foundation has increased greatly. The Yuanta Cultural and Educational Foundation recruited internal volunteers to join the ranks of love, and together they went to the Shelter Workshop of Xinzhuang Handicraft Experience Center (ABRAZO) to fold the limited-edition paper gift boxes with the youths with Down Syndrome for the Mid-Autumn Festival. Through practical actions to convey warmth and blessings, inside and outside the gift boxes are full of sincere feelings. Yuanta volunteers are making employment dream come true for youths with Down Syndrome on the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

According to statistics, one out of every 1,263 newborns in Taiwan is a “Down Syndrome baby.” Cheng-Hsia Lin, chairman of the Down Syndrome Foundation, said that Yuanta Group is the biggest helper behind all social welfare groups. For example, Yuanta FHC donated the “Economy Revitalization Love Cash Cards” two years ago, and Yuanta volunteers made handmade soap with youths with Down Syndrome four years ago. In the most critical moments, you can always see Yuanta partners. On behalf of the Down Syndrome Foundation and the more than 30,000 people with Down syndrome, he thanked the Yuanta Group for their long term care.

The Yuanta Cultural and Educational Foundation said Mid-Autumn Festival is a romantic and happy festival. With the pandemic this year, it is especially meaningful to contribute Yuanta Group’s volunteers to help fold paper boxes and pass on the warmth of happiness at this time. Through each other’s efforts, we believe that 1+1 can generate a strong “king-like” (the Chinese character “king王” looks similar to “1+1”) power to overcome any difficulties.

The event venue, Down Syndrome Foundation Xinzhuang Shelter Workshop, is a three-minute walk from Yuanta Securities’ Xinzhuang branch. When Yuanta Securities’ management team learned of the need for manpower for the Shelter Workshop, five employees volunteered to join the team at the first opportunity, demonstrating Yuanta’s dedication and enthusiasm for public welfare and the Yuanta Group’s commitment to community cohesion. Participating colleagues expressed that it was very rewarding to be able to implement corporate social responsibility in a practical way instead of chanting slogans.

This time, not only Yuanta colleagues but also five youth students who are still studying participated in the volunteer activity. One of them is a “Yuanta Baby” who has received a Yuanta Scholarship for Outstanding Underprivileged Talent. The college junior surnamed Chen said that when he started to fold the boxes, he found that it was not easy to fold. But, he thought that many gift boxes were done by the hands of the youths with Down Syndrome, and he thought that the youths with Down Syndrome were amazing and admirable. Four other students have parents who work for Yuanta Group, and a pair of them, who are twin brothers surnamed Han, said in unison that it was meaningful to use the summer to join in activities and give back to the community through practical actions.

The Yuanta Cultural and Educational Foundation and the Down Syndrome Foundation are long-time partners in the path of philanthropy. This year, on the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival, we are working together to successfully complete our mission of love, converging every little bit of goodness into abundant love and forming a cycle of goodness.
