The rise of female power, gender equality, and diversity and inclusion are global trends. Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) incorporates workplace gender equality into the promotion of sustainable development from the construction of hardware and equipment to the soft strength of human resources, and strives to create a diverse, equal, and inclusive (DEI) work environment. Yuanta FHC was awarded the Gold Award for Workplace Gender Equality Certification by the Taipei City Government today (11/24), and ranked first among the six Gold Award winners, demonstrating Yuanta’s outstanding achievements in the areas of gender equality, work-family balance, pregnancy and parenting friendliness, and workplace safety.
Over fifty percent (50%) of Yuanta FHC’s employees are women. In order to promote a maternity-friendly environment in the workplace, Yuanta FHC provides paid miscarriage leave, paternity pre-natal examination leave, and paternity leave that are better than the number of days required by law, and has set up a warm breastfeeding room in office locations throughout Taiwan with more than 100 employees, complete with tables, chairs, refrigerators, countertops, and covered trash cans, etc. The room has been certified as an excellent breastfeeding (milk collecting) room in Taipei City, allowing female employees to feel comfortable at all stages of pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare. The Yuanta Group promotes Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) internally, offering free psychological counseling services to enable employees to maintain work-family balance.
In terms of talent selection and cultivation, Yuanta FHC has taken practical actions to implement gender-friendliness and provide fair career development and opportunities, such as setting targets for the percentage of women in various management and technical positions, specifying gender ratios for members of key decision-making organizations, promoting leadership training activities for women, and rigorously reviewing the fairness of the personnel and performance systems, so that employees can give full play to their strengths without any worries.
In addition, Yuanta FHC responds to the values of equal rights in marriage, work-family balance, and diversity and friendliness, and does not differentiate between employees based on their gender or sexual orientation in our various management systems and legal rights. Yuanta FHC incorporates gender diversity into the Yuanta Group’s commonality training courses and various activities, and nurtures seed trainees to gain a deeper understanding of gender diversity through regulations and practical cases, so that the needs of diversity can be taken into account when handling various businesses.
Yuanta FHC adopts a zero-tolerance attitude toward discrimination, sexual harassment, and workplace unlawful harm, sets out relevant guidelines, establishes channels for complaints, and regularly conducts courses on gender equality awareness and sexual harassment prevention for all supervisors and employees. Furthermore, the chief executive officer has signed the “Statement on the Prevention of Workplace Violence,” promising to create a safe working environment and implement workplace safety. Employees who leave work from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am the next day can apply for a fare subsidy to ensure safety.
Because workplace safety and employee health are important part of sustainable development, Yuanta FHC has adopted the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as our blueprint and recognizes the core spirit of “achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls” and has integrated gender equality regulations into our business strategy. Yuanta FHC has been selected as a member of the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index (GEI) for three consecutive years since 2020, with a perfect score on the “Sexual Harassment Policies” component every year, which is a remarkable performance.
