The 2022 CommonWealth Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Sustainable Citizenship Awards announced the list of “CommonWealth CSR Sustainable 100” companies with the best ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) performance in Taiwan, and Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) has been listed in the Large Enterprises Category for three consecutive years, ranking twelfth (12^th) this year and fourth (4^th) among the financial sector. Yuanta FHC’s subsidiary, Yuanta Futures, made the “Little Giants” list for the fifth time, ranking third (3^rd) for a new high, and was the only company in the futures industry to receive the award.

Yuanta FHC has taken practical action to expand the impact of sustainable finance. In the face of the global emphasis on carbon reduction, Yuanta FHC has passed the most credible Science Based Targets (SBT) carbon reduction target review in the world this year, making us the second (2^nd) financial institution in Taiwan and the fourth (4^th) in Asia to complete the review. Yuanta FHC also released our first Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) report to proactively address the risks and opportunities brought about by climate change.

In terms of international sustainability awards and initiatives, Yuanta FHC has been listed as a constituent of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World Index and the Emerging Markets Index for three consecutive years. In the CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project), we have made the Climate Change A List in the past two years, and achieved high scores in greenhouse gas emissions, emission reduction activities, and climate risk assessment of investment and financing portfolios.

This year’s Little Giants Category had a change rate of up to 25%, which is a fierce competition, as evidenced by the enthusiasm of small and medium enterprises in ESG. Yuanta Futures, with our rigorous and professional corporate governance, up-to-date customer service, and warm and caring social service, jumped to the third (3^rd) place in the Little Giants Category again this year, including implementing the principle of fair treatment of customers and building an options trading ecosystem. In addition, Yuanta Futures was ranked in the top 25% of the financial services industry in the Assessment of the Implementation of Treating Customers Fairly Principles (TCF Principles) by Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission this year, and was also awarded the “Top 5% of Financial Institutions” for corporate governance evaluation for the eighth (8^th) consecutive year. Furthermore, Yuanta Futures is the first in the industry to release a corporate sustainability report, which has been highly recognized as an ESG initiative.

The CommonWealth CSR Sustainable Citizenship Awards were judged by experts and scholars in four categories: Corporate Governance, Corporate Commitment, Social Engagement, and Environmental Sustainability. Yuanta FHC’s performance in the Corporate Commitment and Corporate Governance categories was highly affirmed by the judges.

With the goal of becoming a leading force for social and environmental change, Yuanta FHC was recently invited to join the Coalition of Movers and Shakers for Sustainable Finance and pledged to take more active actions in the areas of green procurement, funding and engagement, information disclosure, assistance and promotion, and international outreach, and to work with our coalition partners to make a greater impact.
