The significant impact of climate change on the environment has become a serious challenge to sustainable business operations and an important issue today. Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) incorporates environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) factors into daily operations and decision making, and takes concrete actions to implement sustainable development and continuously improve the quality of sustainability information disclosure. Yuanta FHC’s ESG Report has been certified by the British Standards Institution (BSI) for nine consecutive years and has been highly recognized. The certificate was accepted by the chairman Tony Shen, on behalf of Yuanta FHC, on May 25.
Yuanta FHC actively echoes “Corporate Governance 3.0 - Sustainable Development Roadmap” and “Sustainable Development Action Plans for TWSE- and TPEx-Listed Companies.” The 2022 ESG Report not only complies with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) requirements, but also conforms to the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), disclosing information on the indicators of “Investment Banking and Brokerage” and “Commercial Banks,” and follows the regulations of Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) to obtain accountants’ assurance, ensuring transparency and credibility.
In the face of diverse and complex ESG issues, Yuanta has introduced various sustainability management standards, including greenhouse gas emissions, water footprint inventory, energy, waste, supplier management, occupational safety and health, information security, and other international ISO standards. We have also uninterruptedly obtained BSI third-party international certification, laying a good foundation for the practice of sustainable development, and demonstrating Yuanta FHC’s insistence and emphasis on sustainability issues.
According to Shu-Sheng Pu, President of Northeast Asia of BSI, Yuanta FHC has invested in “sustainable finance” and incorporated ESG into the operation strategy, and has taken positive actions to introduce ISO management standards to meet various ESG risk issues and converge with international standards. Yuanta FHC has also transformed management strategy, vision, and sustainability goals into corporate culture and implemented them throughout the entire Yuanta Group, grasping international trends and responding to them quickly, which is the best example of building organizational resilience.
Yuanta FHC has been working in the field of sustainability for a long time, focusing on long-term planning, systematic and effective actions, and investing in financial products and services that have a positive impact on society and the environment to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability, and the results are evident to all. For the third year in a row, we have been awarded the Exemplary Award in the category of “Comprehensive Performance - Financial Insurance Industry” by the Global Views Monthly ESG Corporate Sustainability Awards, and we have also been ranked for the seventh time in the top five percent (5%) of the ninth Corporate Governance Evaluation announced by TWSE this year. We are truly a top performer in sustainable development.
