Responding to the net-zero emission policy of the competent authorities, Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) actively practices green procurement and engages suppliers to join the action. The green procurement amount last year (2024) exceeded NT$298 million and recorded steady growth for the fourth consecutive year, illustrating our achievements in promoting green production chain. On May 7, Yuanta FHC was awarded the merit of 2024 Outstanding Private Enterprise in Green Procurement by the Department of Environmental Protection of Taipei City Government, consistently delivering excellent performance in environmental sustainability for the past fourteen years.
In order to recognize private entities that are implementing green procurement and promoting the concept of green consumption, the Department of Environmental Protection of Taipei City Government has organized the “Award Ceremony for Taipei City’s 2024 Outstanding Private Enterprises and Organizations in Green Procurement.” The award ceremony was held to give public recognition to private enterprises and organizations who in 2024 had reached NT$5 million or more in green procurement amount or had attained environmental certifications.
Six financial holding companies in Taiwan, including Yuanta FHC, formed the Coalition of Movers and Shakers on Sustainable Finance in 2022, worked together to respond to the net-zero emission policy, and jointly pledged to proactively deepen sustainability actions such as “green procurement,” and “assistance and promotion.” This year, Yuanta conducted in-depth engagement with small and medium-sized suppliers with focus on assisting suppliers to calculate their own carbon emissions and compile information on green procurement practices, facilitating green transformation, and promoting carbon emission reduction management mechanism. Since 2020, Yuanta subsidiaries have adopted the ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement Guidance as well as obtaining the certification each year to effectively build a complete sustainable procurement procedure, and have made efforts to continue to improve and refine the system, applying corporate influence to lead suppliers in establishing a sustainable supply chain.
In response to UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 12 of Responsible Consumption and Production, Yuanta FHC performs supplier self-assessment and evaluation mechanism annually, which evaluates supplier’s performance in six areas, including human rights, labor practices, consumers, ethical management, environment, and health and safety, to guide suppliers toward enhancing their ability for sustainable development. Moreover, in order to build a sustainable financial ecosystem, Yuanta uses our influence in finance and makes sustainability-linked loan agreements with customers to support them in incorporating circular economy into their product design, thereby implementing a positive cycle of resource utilization. Yuanta FHC will continue to join hands with employees, customers, and suppliers to promote a new life of circular economy and work with them to realize the core value of sustainable development.
