Yuanta FHC Awarded by Taipei City Government for Excellence in Green Procurement, Responding to Ministry of Environment’s Green Points Carbon Reduction Campaign & Promoting Biodiversity

Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) advocates green procurement to drive the green production chain, and the green procurement amount last year (2023) exceeded NT$273 million, increasing nearly thirty percent (30%) over the previous year (2022).  On May 15, Yuanta FHC was awarded the merit of 2023 Outstanding Private Enterprise of Taipei City in Green Procurement by the Department of Environmental Protection of Taipei City Government, continuing to advance towards the goal of sustainable finance.

In order to acknowledge private enterprises and organizations that are actively implementing green procurement or applying to become an eco-friendly site and promote the concept of green consumption, the Taipei City Government has organized an award ceremony to give public recognition to private enterprises whose green procurement amount in 2023 reached NT$5 million or more.

“Green procurement” is one of the key sustainability initiatives promoted by the Coalition of Movers and Shakers on Sustainable Finance convened by Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission, and Yuanta FHC is a member of the Coalition. Since 2020, the subsidiaries within the group have fully adopted the ISO 20400 sustainable procurement guidelines as well as getting the certification, established a systematic sustainable procurement process, and generated positive growth in green procurement amount for three consecutive years, with the procurement amounting over NT$68.44 million in 2011, increasing to NT$212 million in 2022, and reaching a total of NT$273 million in 2023.

Yuanta FHC and subsidiaries support the Green Points campaign of Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment and have used the personal carbon account of Diamond-Gold Carbon Lucky Account on Yuanta Mobile Banking APP to connect the Green Points to expand the carbon reduction effort by teaming up with our customers. With our Supplier Sustainable Procurement Guidance and other climate regulations as the core, we rise to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 12 to “ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns,” conduct supplier evaluations every year, and continue to improve the supplier self-assessment system, evaluating the supplier in six categories, including human rights, and labor practices to implement procurement risk management and control.

Yuanta FHC joined the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) as one of the world’s Early Adopters and the Partnership for Biodiversity Accounting Financials (PBAF) this year (2024) to respond to international initiatives, and in our first supplier conference of this year (2024), we have made “Advocating Biodiversity and Building Sustainable Natural Ecosystems” the theme of the conference to align with global trend in sustainability.
