As a trusted brand accompanying the growth of our customers, Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) has been paying attention to domestic and international sustainability trends, promoting the Yuanta Group’s Sustainable Development Strategy Roadmap, and making rolling adjustments to various sustainability performance indicators, which have been highly praised by domestic and international professional organizations. Yuanta FHC and the subsidiaries, Yuanta Bank, Yuanta Funds, and Yuanta Futures, were honored with eleven awards at the sixteenth Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA 2023) this year, setting a model of sustainability.

Yuanta FHC has been promoting positive environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) development for a long time, and has put forward three sustainable commitments, namely, Net-Zero Carbon Emission, Sustainable Finance, and Talent Cultivation. Yuanta FHC not only won the Top 100 Taiwanese Sustainable Corporates Award and the Platinum Award for the Financial and Insurance Industry Corporate Sustainability Reports, but also collected the Workplace Wellbeing Leadership Award for the emphasis on human rights, support for gender equality, and the creation of a friendly and healthy workplace.

In addition to the development of the financial business and the creation of profits, Yuanta FHC, from the board of directors to employees, is committed to sustainability and is actively aligned with international standards, including being ranked in the “Leadership Level A” of the CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) for the fifth consecutive year, being certified by the Science Based Targets (SBT), and being ranked among the top five percent (5%) of the Corporate Governance Evaluation of the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TWSE). Yuanta FHC was invited by Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission to be a founding member of the Coalition of Movers and Shakers on Sustainable Finance, and has been listed as a constituent of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index for four years in a row.

Yuanta Bank provides customers with low-carbon financial products while reducing its own carbon emissions through scientific and systematic approaches, such as the Yuanta Mobile Banking APP, which is the first zero-carbon APP for digital finance in Taiwan, with a dual certification of product carbon footprint and carbon neutrality. The personal “Diamond-Gold Carbon Lucky Account” converts abstract carbon reduction grams into actual carbon reduction benefits. As of the end of September this year, the Diamond-Gold Carbon Lucky Account has saved a total of 190 million sheets of A4 paper, with a stacking height equivalent to 528 Taipei 101 buildings, and reduced carbon emissions by a total of 4,068 tons, which is equivalent to preserving 400,000 trees on behalf of the Earth. As a result, Yuanta Bank has been awarded with the Climate Leadership Award and the Creative Communication Leadership Award.

From investing in ESG products to ESG investment, Yuanta Funds promotes the importance and implementation of ESG issues among enterprises and investors, and utilizes its investment influence to promote the sustainable development of enterprises. In 2019, Yuanta Funds launched the Yuanta FTSE4Good TIP Taiwan ESG ETF (00850), which covers the three major ESG directions and breaks the traditional engagement format by adopting a tripartite due diligence governance meeting among Yuanta Funds, investee companies, and index companies to reduce ESG investment risks and create a winning situation for all for investors, companies, asset management companies, and the society. Therefore, Yuanta Funds has been awarded the Growth through Innovation Leadership Award, Talent Development Leadership Award, and Creative Communication Leadership Award.

Yuanta Futures, in the midst of the turbulent international economic environment, has taken a steady and pragmatic approach to strengthening its operational and management targets and expanding its business growth momentum, while believing that equality between the sexes is the key to long-term corporate success and social advancement. Yuanta Futures actively promotes gender equality and diverse leadership, with a ratio of nearly one woman to one man, and has been ranked in the top five percent (5%) of the Corporate Governance Evaluation organized by the TWSE for nine consecutive years. Consequently, Yuanta Futures has been recognized with three major awards, namely, Silver Award for Corporate Sustainability Reports, Talent Development Leadership Award, and Gender Equality Leadership Award, and will continue to achieve its sustainability goals in the future.

The TCSA has entered its sixteenth year, with a total of 526 entries from industry, government, and academia, a 24% increase over last year’s figure, indicating that the enthusiasm for sustainability continues to grow.
